Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Three weeks back, I found my thumb to be a little stiff while texting. The movement was slow, but it got better after a few seconds. A few days later, my thumb felt a little weak while holding a cup of tea and again it got fine afterward. Since then, I have developed a lot of anxiety about MND and have been stressed and losing sleep for a couple of weeks. I visited my GP, who did a full body check, movement, balance, and strength, and concluded that everything seemed to be fine and that there was nothing to worry about. But since then, I have begun to feel tremors all over my body. My right arm sometimes feels stiff and have had pins and needles and numbness in my arm also. I have had pins and needles issues before too. Can you tell me if these are symptoms of MND? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am here to provide expert opinion on your medical issues.

Motor neurone disease (MND) generally presents with muscle weakness, muscle wasting, and twitching in different parts of the body. Rarely, it may cause difficulty speaking, and difficulty swallowing. The symptoms that you have mentioned, do not seem to be due to MND. These symptoms may well be related to local nerve compression or can be due to some vitamin deficiency. Please do regular physical exercise, eat healthy food, and keep yourself well-hydrated.

I wish you good health.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I believe that I made a mistake in describing twitches as tremors. I have been feeling twitches all over my body for the past couple of weeks. Does this alter your opinion of my symptoms? Kindly let me know.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

That is fine. I have given my opinion regarding muscle twitching.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
