Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 26-year-old male. I have type 1 diabetes mellitus. During long hours of studying, I tend to feel dizzy and sleepy even when I take a break between studies. It does not happen only on one day; nowadays, it has become a part of my daily routine. I have an overthinking issue and often dwell on one thing or the past, which affects my daily routine.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I have read your query and understand your concern.
As per your mentioned history and symptoms, I think you are going through stress and tension secondary to studying, and diabetes is one of the reasons for your giddiness.
Stress, overthinking, and diabetes all together affect your body, and that leads to dizziness and weakness. They can affect your diabetes too. So we need to control your stress and overthinking.
Please follow the instructions below, which will help you:
Start physical exercise daily.
Avoid smoking and drinking, if any.
Do start antidepressant medicine, particularly SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) like Escitalopram or Sertraline or Fluoxetine.
Start anti-anxiety medicines together with an antidepressant, as it helps immediately to control your thoughts.
With medicine, you need to start psychological sessions, particularly CBT (Cognitive behavioral therapy).
You need to consult a nearby psychiatrist for a detailed history and mental status examination to confirm diagnosis and management.
Start venting your thoughts with your near and dear ones to control overthinking.
If not able to share, write down and make a diary.
So please try to follow up if you feel this answer would be helpful for you.
And I hope you will feel better soon.
Thank you.
