Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I think I might be pregnant. I had my last period, and then I had unprotected sex once or twice. Although the sperm was ejaculated outside, I am still very worried.
Please help me.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Pregnancy is possible, but not guaranteed.
Even if ejaculation occurred outside, pre-ejaculate fluid can contain sperm. If intercourse happens near your ovulation time (usually around days 12 to 18 of the cycle), the risk is higher.
If intercourse occurred around day 22 of the cycle (assuming a 28 to 30-day cycle), the risk is lower than during peak fertile days. However, cycles can vary, so the risk is not zero.
What to do now is:
1. Take a pregnancy test:
Best time: At least 14 days after intercourse or after a missed period.
Use first-morning urine.
If the result is negative but your period does not start, repeat the test after three to five days.
2. Watch for early pregnancy signs:
Missed period.
Breast tenderness.
Frequent urination.
These symptoms are not proof of pregnancy, only possible indicators.
Seek urgent medical care if you have:
Severe lower abdominal pain (especially on one side).
Dizziness or fainting.
Heavy bleeding with pain.
These symptoms could indicate an ectopic pregnancy, which is rare but serious.
I hope this has helped you.
Please feel free to reach out to me again for further queries.
Thank you.
