Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have secondary hypertension due to ureterohydronephrosis and have already had a TURBT for cystitis cystica as part of my treatment.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your query and can understand your problem.
Since your high blood pressure is secondary to ureterohydronephrosis (swelling of the kidney and ureter), the main focus is to treat the underlying urinary/kidney problem along with controlling BP (blood pressure).
As you are already under care and have had a TURBT (transurethral resection of a bladder tumor) for cystitis cystica, continue your follow-ups with your urologist and nephrologist.
Make sure they are doing the following test
Monitoring your kidney function (creatinine/estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)).
Urine tests.
Electrolytes.
Blood pressure readings.
Status of the obstruction/hydronephrosis.
Do not stop or change BP (blood pressure) medicines on your own. Check with your doctor about whether the blocked ureter needs treatment. Depending on the cause and severity, they may recommend a stent, surgery, or another option.
If you develop the following symptoms, such as
Worsening pain.
Fever.
Reduced urine output.
Blood in urine.
Very high BP symptoms.
Seek medical attention promptly, as the above symptoms may cause dangerous consequences. Always consult your doctor in case of any emergency.
So please try to follow up if you feel this answer would be helpful for you.
And I hope you will feel better soon.
Thank you.
