Why do I have stinging pain while urinating despite my negative urine analysis report?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a stinging pain the first time I urinated today. I have urinary frequency and urinary urgency, and my bladder is tender. My urinalysis and urine culture both came out negative for infections. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

All your symptoms suggest UTI (urinary tract infection), but reports are not correlating (attachment removed to protect patient’s identity). I suggest you undergo an ultrasound abdomen with post-void residual urine. Meanwhile, for symptomatic relief, I suggest you start:

  1. Tablet Levofloxacin 500 mg at bedtime for five days.

  2. Syrup Citralka (Disodium Hydrogen Citrate) 10 ml thrice a day for one week.

  3. Tablet Alfuzosin 10 mg at bedtime for seven days

  4. Tablet Lyser D (Diclofenac, Methyl Salicylate, and Menthol) twice daily for three days.

Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medication.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
