Can good hygiene, avoiding scented soap, wearing loose-fitting clothing, and refraining from sexual activity help alleviate vaginal discharge?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing white vaginal discharge for the past four to five years. Please suggest what I can do to overcome this condition. I have used antiseptic liquid and tried homeopathic medicine too. I am very skinny, and I want to become healthier and have chubby cheeks. Additionally, I have also been dealing with back pain for the past three years.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If you have been experiencing white vaginal discharge for an extended period, it could be a sign of an infection or another medical condition that requires treatment. In the meantime, here are some general tips that may help:

  1. Wear cotton underwear and avoid tight clothing to help keep the vaginal area dry and reduce irritation.

  2. Avoid using scented products such as soaps, douches, or bubble baths, as they can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina.

  3. Practice good hygiene, such as wiping from front to back after using the toilet.

  4. Avoid sexual activity until you have been examined by a healthcare professional.

Regarding your desire to gain a healthy weight and have fuller cheeks, have you considered consulting with a registered dietitian or a personal trainer? A professional can provide a tailored plan to help you increase your caloric intake and build muscle in a healthy way.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
