Why do I have green vaginal discharge and fever?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a virgin. Last week, I had a fungal infection, and a gynecologist recommended Candid B cream and Intiwash. I used them regularly, and I felt better. However, for the past two days, I have been experiencing light green vaginal discharge with no smell, and I have also been having recurrent fever.

Please suggest.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understood your concern.

If you have excessive and greenish discharge, Candid B cream (Clotrimazole and Beclometasone) alone may not be sufficient to cure it. It is suggested to take a proper antibiotic course. In addition, maintain hygiene by keeping the genital area clean and dry. Change your undergarments twice a day and wash your genital area with gentle cleansers like V-wash (triethanolamine lauryl sulfate and ammonium lauryl sulfate). After urination, wash your genital area with water and ensure it is dried properly. The fever could be a result of this infection. It is suggested you take the following medications for five days:

  1. Tablet Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily.

  2. Tablet Metronidazole 400 mg thrice daily.

  3. Tablet Pantaprazole 40 mg twice daily before meals.

  4. Additionally, take a single tablet of Fluconazole.

Since you mentioned being a virgin, I will not recommend any vaginal pessaries.I hope this information helps you. Feel free to ask any further queries.

Thanks and regards.
