Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have bumps near my vagina, below labia minora. I do not know if it is normal as I never noticed it before. I have mild itching for the last two days. Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your first query consult is on us!

I understand your concern.

These small swellings are suggestive of local skin lesions with or without vaginal infection. Vaginal infection can be present if sexually active. Itching can be suggestive of an infection. If sexually active, it can be a vaginal infection that was transmitted during sex, which means your partner might have been infected. Hence, both have to be treated at a time to prevent the spread of infection. You may have white, yellow, or grayish discharge with or without itching, foul smell, and pain at the beginning and later towards the end of sex due to dryness. When a fully erect penis touches the innermost vagina (due to inflammation of the structures around the uterus), there can be pain radiating to the back or on the thighs. The bowel movements can also be affected, showing features of gastritis. Bleeding during periods will be thicker, darker, and may smell bad. There can be more days with spotting after the periods too. There can be throbbing pain before and after the periods. Please confirm that you are not pregnant before starting any medication. I suggest you abstain from sex until the infection is completely healed. Delaying the treatment may send the infection inwards and may affect both of your future fertility.

I suggest you have the following medicines along with your partner. Have the medicines on the same day.

1. Tablet Fluconazole 150 mg stat (Take only one tablet after lunch).

2. Tablet Azithromycin 1 gm stat ( Take only one tablet one hour before food).

3. Tablet Secnil forte (Secnidazole 1000mg) stat (Take two tablets after dinner).

After taking this, I suggest you medication for a week.

1. Cap. Doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for one week.

2. Vaginal wash with V - WASH or similar cleanser twice a day.

3. Cap. Clingen forte (Clindamycin 100 mg and Clotrimazole 100 mg) or Candid - CL(Clindamycin 100 mg and Clotrimazole 200 mg) Vaginal pessary once at night for five nights. Your partner can have a local application of any antibiotic and antifungal creams like Candid B (Beclometasone 0.025 % w/w and Clotrimazole 1 % w/w) or Candiderma (Beclometasone 0.025 % w/w, Neomycin 0. 5% w/w, and Clotrimazole 1 % w/w) or Lobate GM (Clobetasol 0.05 % w/w, Miconazole 2 % w/w and Neomycin 0.5 % w/w) on the penis twice a day after washing for seven days. Consult your physician and take medicines accordingly.

If sexually not active, this can be an infection of the glands - sweat and sebaceous glands, glands near the vaginal introitus. There can be a local fungal infection in the skin if the hygiene is poor, if there is excessive sweating, or if the area remains wet too long. I suggest the following:

1. Keep the area as dry as possible.

2. Avoid nylon or synthetic undergarments.

3. Use cotton undergarments.

4. Avoid the use of undergarments at night.

5. Apply local Antifungal cream like - Lobate GM or Candiderma or Candid-B.

It will get resolved within a few days,

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
