What could be the reason for small tears in the vagina?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am having several small tears in my vagina, and a tear at the entrance of my vagina. I have not been sexually active for a month and am out of the country. The tears are very uncomfortable and have become a worry for me. Please help.

Thank you.

I read your query and understand your concern,

These tears could be either due to dryness or rough intercourse. It would have been better if a picture was attached to see the condition. Keep that area clean and dry. Change undergarments twice a day. I suggest you use Neosporine ointment (Bacitracin 400 IU, Neomycin 3400 IU, Polymyxin B 5000 IU) or power locally two to three times a day. Avoid using tight undergarments, use cotton breathable undergarments. Wash the area with water and dry it properly after urination.

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
