Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had unprotected sex three days ago and took an I-pill the next day. It is also the sixth day of my menstrual cycle. Yesterday morning, I noticed a discharge that has now turned green in color without any odor. In the past, I had experienced a UTI (urinary tract infection).

Hello,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I understand your concern.

According to your description, you already had intercourse on a safe day, so there was no need for an unnecessary emergency contraceptive pill, which may disrupt your menstrual cycle. The discharge you are experiencing could be due to a vaginal infection. I suggest you take an antibiotic course for this, including:

  1. Tablet Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily.
  2. Tablet Metronidazole thrice daily.
  3. Tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg twice daily before meals.
  4. Clingen (a combination of Clindamycin and Clotrimazole) vaginal pessary (insert this into the vagina before sleeping at night).
  5. Continue this regimen for five days.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent. To prevent such repeated infections, it is essential to maintain cleanliness and dryness in that area, change undergarments twice a day, and use gentle cleansers to wash your genital area.

I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you again for your time; I greatly appreciate it.

Why do I have this green discharge? Is this an STI (sexually transmitted infections)?

Hi,

Glad to have you back!

I am here to help you get the best medical advice.

I understand your concern.

We cannot say that it is an STI (sexually transmitted infections), but most probably, this could be a vaginal infection, which usually occurs when proper hygiene is not maintained, especially during intercourse.

Hope this helps you. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
