Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Varicose veins get worse after lying on my tummy and extending my legs during workouts, or while cycling or using the rowing machine. I am looking for a better solution.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Based on your symptoms, it sounds like your varicocele might be getting worse, which is why you are feeling increased pain radiating into your groin, especially during exercises like cycling and rowing.

I would recommend getting a repeat scrotal ultrasound to assess the current status of the varicocele. In the meantime, supportive underwear and avoiding activities that strain the area could help ease symptoms. You can also use over-the-counter pain medication (occasionally) to help with severe discomfort. If the ultrasound shows significant worsening or if the pain continues to affect your daily life, we can discuss definitive treatment options like microsurgical varicocelectomy or embolization, both of which can offer long-term relief.

Let us arrange for an imaging study first and take it from there.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

The ultrasound is under a month old. Is that recent enough? Are you recommending more frequent ultrasounds?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

If your ultrasound was done within the last month, that is recent enough, no need to repeat it right now unless your symptoms have rapidly worsened since the scan. If you can share the ultrasound report or the main findings, I can guide you better on the next steps.

Based on your symptoms and the ultrasound results, we can then decide whether conservative management is enough or if we should consider treatment options like embolization or surgery.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
