Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a strange feeling inside my throat when singing as the voice would not go up. Like the voice stops and would not let me sing a high note. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern. First of all, it is good to know that you are an opera singer and that the vocal nodules will not hamper your singing career. As I can see from the images (attachment removed to protect patient’s identity) of your larynx the nodules are in a very early stage it is almost normal, vocal nodules aka singers nodules are not tumors or something which a person should fear it are just that due to continuous talking and vocal strain these nodules develop. Please do not worry, all you have to do is give your voice rest for a few days and then meet a speech-language pathologist and learn something known as vocal hygiene. That is, they will teach you how to use your voice in a proper way so that your vocal cords are not strained. And most singers also have this functional component where they feel it is grossly wrong with their cords and will start developing performance anxiety so relieving yourself is not a major problem. That is it this is a simple condition please do not worry. I hope I have answered your doubts. If there is anything more please let me know and I am happy to help.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

So do you see their nodules or irritation? I can not see the nodules the doctor here told me about. What I see is a small irritation on the left vocal cord.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com

Yes, the reason I told you it might be the very early stages of a nodule I do not exactly see a well-formed vocal nodule is nothing to worry about. I hope this helps.

Thank you.
