Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My daughter is 13 years old. She underwent an osteotomy because she had a knee problem. After surgery, she put on weight as there was not much activity. Only now has she started walking slowly without a walker. However, my concern is her weight. What could be done to reduce her weight and maintain it in a healthy way without much activity? Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Without physical activity, it is difficult to maintain weight, but it is possible.
She can do upper-body exercises like hand stretching and bending forward or backward.
It can take help from yoga posture, which does not involve legs or lower limbs.
The idea is to maintain adequate muscle mass to avoid fat deposition.
Add a predominantly high-protein (plant) low-carb diet.
Restrict junk food.
Take care of adequate hydration.
Have fiber in your diet through fruits and vegetables.
Avoid sweeteners and high-calorie foods.
Take care of your mental health (avoid stress as much as possible because it leads to binge eating).
I hope this information will help you.
Kindly revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
