What could cause a small white pimple on the penis?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had a pimple on my penis for a month or more. It is white and very small but looks hard on touch. Wanted to check if I should be worried about it.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Share a picture of the affected area. If there was unprotected sex, we need to think of sexually transmitted infections.
I would suggest you do the following:
-
TPHA (Treponema pallidum hemagglutination).
-
HPV DNA PCR test (human papillomavirus deoxyribonucleic acid polymerase chain reaction test).
- Herpes simplex virus (HSV) types 1 and 2 IgG.
-
HSV-1 and 2 IgM, serum.
-
Chlamydia trachomatis IgG.
-
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) one and two antibodies, screening test.
-
HBsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen).
-
Complete urine examination.
If not, it can be a simple bacterial infection. I would suggest you use the ointment Mupirocin (topical antibiotic) at two percent for local application and Doxycycline (Tetracycline antibiotics) at 100 mg twice a day for five days.
If there is itching, we need to think of a fungal infection. I would suggest you use the ointment Clotrimazole (antifungal) and Beclometasone (steroid) for local application. In the case of itching, you can take a tablet of Cetirizine (antihistamine) once a night.
Make sure you wash your genitalia twice a day, morning and night, and use normal water, not cold or hot water. Do not use high-pH soap.
Kindly consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
