Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I noticed a white spot in my mouth about two weeks ago, but I am unsure if it has been there for a long time. It does not seem to improve.

Please suggest what it could be.

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. Usually, a white patch can occur on the buccal mucosa but it is self-limiting. Please refrain from smoking or drinking alcohol, or eating any hot, spicy foods on a daily basis. White lesions will subside on its own without any treatment. But I suggest you to keep a watch over it. If it persists for more than two weeks, then please get it checked by your nearest dentist who will do a biopsy if required.I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below, Gargle with lukewarm water mixed with salt four to five times a day for a week. Apply Dentogel (Benzalkonium chloride and Choline Salicylate) at night on the affected area. Do not rinse with water after applying the gel. Use a mouthwash such as Chlorhexidine Gluconate 2% (germicidal oral mouthwash). I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
