What could cause white spots all over my body?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have white spots all over my body, along with acne, hirsutism, large pores, black spots, and oily skin. However, my major concern is the white spots that have spread all over my body.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Based on your description, it seems you may have an acneiform eruption with hyperpigmented skin and comedonal lesions (which are essentially plugs of dead skin debris and sebum deposited in the pores).

Why your dark pigmentation and pimples keep coming back:

  1. Hormonal imbalance: Especially if acne worsens around your period, on your jawline/chin, or during stress.
  2. Oily skin and clogged pores: If your skin is naturally oily, topical creams alone may not be sufficient.
  3. Diet or gut health: High sugar, dairy, or processed foods can trigger inflammation in sensitive individuals.
  4. Incorrect skincare: Over-washing or using harsh products can damage the skin barrier.

Here are some long-term treatment options: Medical options (stronger but effective):

  1. Topicals: Tacrolimus 0.2% cream once a day, Clobetasol ointment 0.05% once a day, or Hydrocortisone cream 0.2% twice a day for one month.
  2. Oral antibiotic: Minocycline 500 mg three times a day for one week.
  3. Other topicals: Resorcinol 2% once a day, Tretinoin 0.1% twice a day, Azelaic acid 20% once a day, or Dapsone gel 5% once a day for one month.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent.

Please feel free to reach out at any time if you have questions or need guidance. I am always here to support you.

Thank you.
