Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have an erupting wisdom tooth and I have been in pain for about two days. Today, I can barely open my jaw to get a finger in my mouth. Will Naproxen help, or what can I do? Kindly help.
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
The pain in the wisdom tooth is because of the infection of the gums over the wisdom tooth (pericoronitis or pericoronal abscess)—nothing to panic about. Consult an oral physician and get a radiograph taken to check the space available for the tooth to erupt. If there is no space, the tooth must be removed under local anesthesia. If I were your treating doctor, I would have suggested taking antibiotics like Amoxicillin and Metronidazole (if you are not allergic) for infection. Take analgesic like Diclofenac for the pain. Do saline gargling.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
