What do hazy opacities on a chest X-ray indicate?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I did a chest X-ray scan; the result is below.

  1. CXR PA and LEFT Lateral Decubitus.
  2. Ill-defined, hazy opacities are seen in the left pericardiac region.
  3. Blunting of the left costophrenic angle above the horizontal without layering of free fluid in the dependent portion of the hemithorax on the left lateral decubitus view.
  4. The heart is not enlarged.
  5. Rightward curvature of the spine was noted. The rest of the chest structures are unremarkable.
  6. I also did a Genexpert TB test, and it was negative.

What medication can I start with for the treatment?

Thank you.
