Dr.Anthony Koller is a specialist psychiatrist in private practice in Cape Town, South Africa. He is a fully qualified and officially registered psychiatrist with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa. He obtained his medical degree from the distinguished University of the Witwatersrand (with distinction) in Johannesburg after completing a BSc. in maths and computer science (Cum Laude) at the University of Johannesburg. After completing his mandatory 2-year internship in Cape Town at the famous Groote Schuur Hospital (where the first heart transplant was successfully performed), he then completed a third mandatory year of Community Service working in pediatrics at Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town, one of the best Pediatric hospitals in the world. He then began his registrar/residence time to specialize in Psychiatry at the University of Cape Town, based at Valkenberg Hospital in Cape Town over four years. During this time, he wrote the exams to become a Fellow of the Psychiatrists of South Africa FCPsych(SA). In addition, he completed a Masters in Medicine in Psychiatry through the University of Cape Town and passed with distinction. He then began his career working in temporary/locum positions as a psychiatrist both in the public and private sector. He then began his private practice in earnest in Cape Town. His interests are mainly in adult, mild to severe, depressive, and anxiety disorders. He has developed an interest in Adult Attention Deficit Disorder and social anxiety disorder. However, he is trained to treat the whole spectrum of mental health disorders and often treat geriatric and adolescent patients. He uses a very holistic approach to his patients. He has a very strong knowledge of medications used in psychiatry. However, he is very comfortable providing short-term supportive psychotherapy, medium-term cognitive and behavioral therapy, and longer-term talk psychotherapy.
