Answered by Dr. Honey Nandwani

I need a second opinion about my orthodontic treatment.

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. Damon braces are a self-ligating system of dental braces and it implicates light forces over the teeth lets the tooth movement occur in a short time and needs fewer adjustments. The image that you have sent (attachment removed to protect patient identity), does not show your teeth properly and just the incisal third is visible. So please send an image with the teeth completely and visible. From the image, I can see that the incisors are still not properly aligned, but the canines are not visible for me to be able to comment.

Can a dentist correct the problems in new dentures?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. The fit can be improved by adjusting the flanges of the denture and also by relining the denture. If the teeth are not set with a proper midline, then the dentist can try to manipulate the teeth and adjust them. But it is a temporary solution. So, the most appropriate solution to get a proper fit is by repeating the denture and getting it refabricated.

What happens to the bone after a gum graft?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I can understand your concern. If gum grafting is performed, it typically takes approximately five to six months for the bone to heal, and the bone's anchorage to the tooth improves during this time. The less interdental bone (the bone between two teeth) that is lost, the faster the healing process tends to occur. Gum grafts tend to be successful if proper oral hygiene is maintained and if patients follow the post-operative instructions diligently.

Does bleeding indicate post-extraction granuloma?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I have read your query and I can understand your concern. If there is a granuloma, it should be removed by an oral surgeon immediately after the extraction of the wisdom tooth. However, since it has been eight days post-extraction and the extraction site is painless, then there seems to be no granuloma or infection. The extraction site is in the healing phase, which may cause some bleeding.

What does a dot on the gums of an RC-treated tooth indicate?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. We take this opportunity to guide you. I have evaluated your images (images removed to protect the patient’s identity) and have keenly read your question. Since the small dot is hardly visible, it does not seem to be anything serious. It can be due to residual infection in your gums.

How can I get relief from recurrent jaw joint pain?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I read your query and understood your concern. If the pain is in the jaw joint and not associated with any tooth, then it is most likely due to a disturbance in the functioning of the jaw joint. My suggestion is to get an X-ray, such as a panoramic X-ray, so that the jaw joints can be evaluated. I suggest you follow these instructions: Treatment such as a combination of painkillers and muscle relaxants, physiotherapy, and mouth guards is commonly advised once the exact cause is identified.

Is slurred speech normal after getting front teeth veneers?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. If you have a lisping problem, then it can be due to the thick edges of the veneers, and you also need proper training to speak properly. It takes some time for the muscles of the lips, cheeks, and tongue to coordinate with the veneers and adjust accordingly so that you can speak properly. Your lips and tongue have muscle memory that needs training so that they adapt to the changes. When did you get these veneers placed? I hope this helps.

How do I manage an infection near an impacted wisdom tooth?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I read your query and understood your concern. Based on the information you provided, it seems you have a severe pericoronitis, causing inflammation and infection of the gum flap around the wisdom tooth due to food lodgement. It commonly improves with antibiotics. However, if it is not improving and the gum flap is partially covering the wisdom tooth, the best way to get relief is to have the gum flap removed.

Which infection causes a sore throat, white patches?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. I have seen the image (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It looks like you have a bacterial throat infection and the red spots on the tongue are due to inflamed tongue papillae. For confirmation, consult an otolaryngologist and get a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture can help in diagnosis. They will suggest a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room.
