I am experiencing frequent bowel movement and hematuria. Is it due to low digestive enzymes?

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing trouble with my bowels for the past one and a half weeks. I would normally have big stools, and go often daily, sometimes every other day, and rarely once every three days. I have been having more frequent bowel movements, but they have become much smaller and also have hematuria. My PCP first informed me of hematuria a week ago, and a urologist today confirmed it was still there but there was less blood than last time.

I have been having urinary issues, which the urologist suggested is because of bowel problems, and directed me to speak with a naturopath. I had a prostate exam (which was fine), and a bladder scan to ensure it was emptying. I took Colace in the evening, and the next morning I had very thick, greasy creamy stool. After eating cheerios for breakfast I experienced discomfort and gas all day long. Today, I had minor gas and discomfort, and I am experiencing a decrease in appetite, and I have lost 4 lbs in the last week. In each of the stools, I noticed solid, reddish-orange chunks that I tried to break in my tissue, which almost felt like a gummy bear. I also had corn in my last few bowel movements, which I ate the before evening. Is it possible I am suffering from low digestive enzymes? I had a frequency in urination as well, and I am drinking 50 oz of water roughly ever day. Could I have hematuria due to intestinal bleeding? After each bowel movement, I still feel like I have more to release. I have an appointment with a naturopath and looking for relief sooner though. I have done CT scan, x-ray and blood tests.

How to manage skin rashes based on the current reports?

Hi doctor,

I have rashes similar to the rash of SLE, swollen, painful and redness around the eyes, severe fatigue and muscle weakness. These symptoms occurred a few months back after I had an intestinal infection. The doctors suspected it to be dermatolysis too, thus having a skin biopsy done tomorrow. I have a few laboratory tests done in one of the famous hospital for an autoimmune disease checkup. My red cell distribution width, CV and SD were high. The anion gap, CRP and sedimentation rates are high while the immunoglobulin IgM level and gamma globulin fraction were low. The total liver enzyme level was elevated and I have fatty liver disease. My current medication is Synthriod. Please suggest me some advice based on the report.

How to manage when BP falls below normal after medicine?

Hi doctor,

I am 35 years old. I got mild hypertension during my pregnancy and it continues still. My usual blood pressure will be 140/90 mmHg. Both my parents are with high BP. I have taken my blood tests and urine analysis. Everything is fine, including my ECG. Last year due to improper posture, I had muscle spasms. I was scared and my anxiety increased. Hence, my BP shot up to 150/95 mmHg. My doctor prescribed me Nebiqol 5 mg (Nebivolol), which has kept my BP in control. Sometimes, after taking the medicine by BP falls low at home to 105/65 mmHg. So, I am afraid to continue the tablet daily. But, my doctor says it will optimize the pressure and it will not go down. Kindly advise.
