Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter has been suffering from chronic lower left abdominal pain for the last seven months. She has lost weight, feels nauseous and dizzy, and also has nose bleeds and chest pain. She has had scans and blood tests which are clear. She has been put on a double dose of the contraceptive pill (mini pill) to stop her periods, although this does not seem to be working. She is on strong painkillers every day and has also been assessed for mental health, which is also clear. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Well, this is pretty serious since she seems to suffer quite a lot according to the medicines she is taking, and you say she has lost weight. To be honest, I would like to help, but I would need more information:

1. It has been going on for seven months. In the past, before that, has she been suffering from any other illness or pain, etc?

2. Is there any past medical history?

3. What is the date of the first period?

4. Is the pain really linked to the menstrual cycle?

5. Can you objectively measure weight in kilograms?

6. What is her diet every day?

7. When you say the blood test is all clear, I would like to know what has been tested and what exactly are the results.

I would also strongly suggest that, even if you are with her, she should seek to help herself. She should be involved in discussions and management.

I hope this helps you.

Regards.
