Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am experiencing throbbing pain on the left side of my abdomen along the line of my hip bone. It is tender to the touch and worsens when active. Sometimes I also feel pain down my left leg and aching pain in my left testicle. It started after lifting a heavy object, with lower back pain and stiffness. I am currently on medication for heartburn and also taking the tablet Zoloft. I think I am suffering from a hernia and am worried if that is a significant issue. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

There is a possibility that you can be suffering from muscular pain or nerve compression. Get an ultrasound abdomen done for a proper diagnosis of hernia. I also want you to answer the below-mentioned questions.

  1. Do you feel any bulge in your left lower abdomen when you try to cough or inhale deeply?

  2. Do you have a habit of smoking?

Kindly provide me with answers to the above-asked questions to guide you better.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I do not smoke and do not feel the bulge. I only noticed throbbing localized pain that radiates down into my left testicle. It is not muscular pain, as I played sports during my 30s. Kindly suggest what is to be done if it is nerve compression.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

You might have injured your lower back due to heavy weight lifting, causing nerve compression and radiating pain. I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions:

  1. Get a Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of the lower spine or an abdomen ultrasound.

  2. Get advice for physiotherapy.

  3. Take the tablet Pregabalin (Pregabalin) for neuropathic pain.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
