Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I feel like something is stuck in the right side of my throat, and it is a little swollen. I have an acid reflux issue. Sometimes I feel a burning sensation in my throat while burping. Please suggest some preventive measures for my throat for this acid reflux. Due to a lump feel, I feel some sound coming from my throat if I open my mouth while breathing. Kindly help. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

1. For how long have you had this symptom? 2. Do you have any pain while swallowing or coughing? 3. Is there any mucus coming from the throat? 4. Is any mucus dripping from the back of the nose into the throat? 5. Do you have any swelling seen from outside in the neck? 6. Can you take a picture of an open mouth and show us, taking care the tonsils and back of the throat are clear in the picture? 7. Does a bitter taste come to your mouth when you burp? I want to initiate you on proton pump inhibitors and antacids now. They would remove the reflux. Additionally, you will have to take some dietary precautions, which I will enlist here. If you have pain, mucus or inflammation, I will have to write some more medicines. We will know when you give details to the above-listed questions and send us a photo. 1. Pantoprazole 40 mg sustained release is to be taken twice daily a half hour before meals. 2. Take antacid syrup, two teaspoons 20 minutes after each meal, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Avoid using spicy oily foods, smoking, and drinking. Do not drink a lot of water after a meal. Otherwise, between meals, drink sufficient water about four liters of water per day. Use mild toothpaste, not anything that triggers acidity. At night rinse the mouth with warm water. Do not do any warm saline gargles or mouthwash gargles of the throat. Avoid steam inhalation, also. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response. I do not have pain while swallowing. There is no swelling from the outside of my mouth and throat. I have inflammation inside my right throat, and white mucus and phlegm are coming from my throat. Due to acid getting in my throat, I feel like something is stuck in the right side of my throat while lying down. The right side is swollen, and the left side is normal. Due to this, I feel anxious and sometimes have heart palpitations. Why was the right side alone swollen at night and morning after burping? Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can start with the medicines that I suggested after consulting your doctor. Along with those, take Chymoral Forte (Trypsin and Chymotrypsin) tablet twice daily before meals and tablet Mucolite (Ambroxol Hydrochloride) 30 mg twice daily. Take these for five days, and let us know how you feel. Consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent. Your symptoms suggest reflux laryngitis and pharyngitis. Confirmation can be done only by looking inside your throat using a laryngoscope. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
