Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have acne and it has been there for more than six years. I am 25, turning 26 this year. I am 5.35 feet.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Based on the given picture and description, you are having mild to moderate acne. I can completely understand your situation, especially when it is from six years ago. Do not worry, with the right treatment, you will be able to manage it
For treatment, in the morning and night, use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil or a simple, refreshing face wash.
Apply Clindamycin one percent gel in the morning, using a thin layer only on active acne lesions, followed by a non-comedogenic moisturizer like Cerave or Physiogel AI sensitive moisturizer.
After this, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF (sun protection factor) 50) every morning, even if you are indoors, as sun exposure can worsen redness and make acne marks darker. Good sunscreen options include La Roche-Posay Anthelios, La Roche-Posay Effaclar SPF, or any oil-free, acne-safe sunblock suitable for sensitive skin.
Apply Differin gel once daily at night. Start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser, then pat the skin completely dry. It is important to wait 15–20 minutes before applying the gel, as applying it to damp skin can increase irritation. Take a pea-sized amount only and spread it thinly over the entire acne-prone area of the face, not just on individual pimples. Avoid applying near the eyes, corners of the nose, and lips.
When starting Differin, it is best to use it every other night for the first two weeks, especially if you have sensitive or reactive skin. Once your skin adjusts, you can increase to nightly use if tolerated.
After applying Differin, you may use a light, non-comedogenic moisturizer to reduce dryness.
Please avoid scrubs, harsh face washes, picking or squeezing acne, as these significantly worsen redness and scarring. Try to limit junk food to once a week only, take green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet, as diet has an important role in acne. Consistency is key, and visible improvement usually takes eight to 12 weeks.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
