How can I treat severe breakouts on my oily skin?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been getting very bad acne breakouts on my face, and I have very oily skin, so I am looking for treatment for that.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

For this grade of acne, you need to start oral medication as well. Sudden breakouts can be stress-induced, hormonal, or due to the application of certain products on the face. At present, no blood tests are required.

Only one detail is needed: Are you married or pregnant? In case of pregnancy, oral medications cannot be prescribed. Please inform me about your pregnancy status so that we can start additional medications if required.

The probable cause in your case may be hormonal. The diagnosis is acne vulgaris. I will suggest a treatment plan. Please follow it and avoid excessive sugar and dairy products.

For now, I will start one antioxidant and two topical gels. Treatment to start:

  • Capsule Antoxid HC (an antioxidant nutritional supplement) - Once daily.
  • Faceclin gel (Clindamycin and Nicotinamide) - Apply in the morning.
  • Deriva MS gel (Adapalene) - Apply at night as spot treatment.
  • A gentle cleanser - Twice daily.
  • Cutimax-O lotion (colloidal oatmeal, shea butter, and olive oil) - Use as a moisturizer if required.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent.

I hope this addresses your concerns. Please feel free to reach out if you need any further assistance.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I am not pregnant.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Then, along with the other medicines, start the capsule Microdox LBX 100 mg (Doxycycline and Lactobacillus) twice daily for three weeks. This will help with faster recovery.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent.

Kind regards.
