This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 21 years old. My height is 5 feet 2 inches, and my weight is 122 pounds. I usually get pimples on my forehead, and later they turn into black spots. I have tried many oils and creams, but nothing has worked. How can I manage this?

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Based on the symptoms, this appears to be mild to moderate acne on the forehead along with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), which explains the dark spots left after pimples heal. This condition is common at this age and is usually related to excess oil production, clogged pores, and bacterial growth. The use of facial oils may worsen acne by blocking pores.

A simple and consistent skincare routine is important.

  • Apply Adapalene 0.1% gel at night, using a pea-sized amount over the entire face on dry skin. Start three times a week and gradually increase to daily use after about 10 days.

  • Follow with a gentle moisturizer to reduce dryness. In the evening or daytime, apply a thin layer of Benzoyl peroxide 2.5 % gel to affected areas to reduce bacteria and inflammation.

  • A non-comedogenic moisturizer, such as a sensitive moisturizer, can be used twice daily to support the skin barrier.

  • Avoid using oils, harsh scrubs, or frequently changing skincare products.

  • Do not squeeze or pick pimples, as this can worsen pigmentation.

  • Daily use of sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher is essential to prevent dark spots from becoming darker.

Some mild irritation or breakouts may occur initially, but improvement is usually seen within four to eight weeks with consistent use.

If possible, sharing an image of the affected area may help assess the condition more accurately and decide whether additional treatment is required. This condition is manageable with proper care and consistency.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.

Thank you.
