Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 20-year-old male. Every morning when I wake up, I have new acne on my face, and my face is very oily every time I wash it. I use Triclocarban soap every morning, noon, and evening. How can I manage this?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I would first like to tell you that at your age, it is mostly hormonal acne. It is normal for some people to have oily, acne-prone skin due to overactive oil glands on the skin. But your condition is easily manageable with medicines and dietary changes.
I would advise you to send a picture of the acne so that I can see what stage of acne is present. Generally, type four acne is nodular and cystic with pus and is very painful. This requires a combination of medicines applied to the skin and medicines taken by mouth. Other stages of acne may be treatable with just medicines applied to the skin.
I am prescribing some medicine for you to apply to your face. Please do a patch test on your hand and wait for ten minutes after application to check if you are allergic to it. If no reaction occurs, then apply it to your face. Clindamycin one percent gel is to be applied every twelve hours after washing the face for two weeks.
Use a sunscreen gel with sun protection factor 50 over your face in the morning, thirty minutes before going outside, and reapply every three to four hours. Please follow up with pictures so that I can prescribe completely.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
