I have acne and acne marks. What skincare can help me?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 25 years old and have acne and acne scars. I use Estelin face wash, and I am so worried about my acne.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for sharing your concerns, and I completely understand how distressing acne and the acne marks it leaves behind can be.

I have carefully reviewed your picture (the attachments were removed to protect the patient's identity), and you are dealing with moderate acne along with some old acne scars, which means this has been going on for some time.

Your current face wash is fine, but only face wash cannot help to treat acne as the contact time of it, and its depth is not sufficient, but with the right routine, your skin can improve significantly.

I will give you a step-by-step routine to manage your condition.

Start your morning routine with:

  1. Your regular face wash.

  2. Apply Acsolve (a combination of Hydroquinone, Tretinoin, and Hydrocortisone) gel on active pimples.

  3. Then use a sunscreen with SPF (sun protection factor) 50 before stepping out.

In the afternoon, apply acne scar care gel on dark spots and old scars.

At night, gently cleanse your face. Apply Adapco gel (Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxide) a pea-sized amount for the entire face, not just on individual pimples.

Please keep the amount just pea-sized. Always use it over a layer of moisturizer to reduce irritation. Leave it on overnight. This combination will help control new acne, reduce inflammation, and gradually lighten the marks.

For faster and stronger results, if you are comfortable, I can guide you about oral medications, which work very well for moderate acne and help prevent future scarring.

Just let me know if you would like to consider that option; otherwise, the regimen I mentioned will also help you, just continue using it for three to four weeks. Feel free to reach out to me anytime for more concerns.

Thank you, and happy healing.
