What are the causes and treatment for acne?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been suffering from itching due to acne all over my arms, face, chest, and back area. Social awkwardness is a major problem and self-consciousness arises in heavy amounts. I am currently taking two tablets of Monocef-O 200 every day. I would like to know the reason behind acne and proper measures including a food diet to prevent it from spreading. Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Acne Vulgaris is a common skin problem in adolescents and adulthood that involves pilosebaceous follicles or oil glands and is therefore seen to involve areas where oil glands are dense like the face, chest, back, and upper arms. Based on the description provided by you, it looks like you are suffering from grade 1 to grade 2 acne.
I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions.
- Start using 1% Clindamycin gel (Clindamycin phosphate) during day time over pimples and 0.1% Adapalene gel (Adapalene) during the night over the whole face (dark spots) for around two to three months. Adapalene may cause a little bit of a burning sensation and hence should be used in a small quantity. For the trunk, you can use 5% Benzoyl peroxide (Benzoyl peroxide) twice daily for the same duration
- Use Cuti wash soft foam gel face wash (Cocamidopropyl betaine) for cleaning the face.
- Follow certain dietary restrictions like avoiding oily, spicy, junk food, milk products, and non-vegetarian foods.
- Consume lots of water to keep your skin hydrated.
- Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and use the medication with their consent.
Please attach a photograph of your skin condition for better evaluation and consider oral treatment if required.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
