What are the effective treatments for my forehead acne?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had severe pus-filled acne with redness on my forehead for the past month. The bumps are red and filled with pus. I used Adapco, Betnovate-N, and Betsalic for treatment, but there has been no improvement. I am 20 years old, female, with no hormonal issues, and my periods are normal.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad that you are paying attention to the changes in your body. But do not worry. I am here to take care of you. Thank you for sharing this. I believe you may have developed seborrheic dermatitis along with acne. Here is a breakdown of what might be happening and how to approach it beyond temporary fixes:

Why does the condition keep coming back?

  1. Hormonal imbalance – Especially if acne worsens around your period, on your jawline or chin, or during stress.

  2. Oily skin and clogged pores – If your skin is naturally oily, topical creams alone may not be enough.

  3. Incorrect skincare – Using harsh products or over-washing can damage your skin barrier.

Long-Term Treatment Options:

  1. Medical Options (Stronger but effective):

  • Topical 0.2 percent Tacrolimus cream.

  • Topical ointment 0.05 percent Clobetasol once daily.

  • Or 0.2 percent Hydrocortisone cream twice daily for one month.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
