What could be done to relieve acne in teenage?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 19-year-old female having acne-prone skin. I have had acne since I was 15 years, meanwhile, I lost 44.09 pounds. In the past I also had a medical treatment of Isotretinoin for seven to eight months with a face face wash that cured my acne but only for a certain period. However, now my skin got worse. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to Icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It seems you still have acne issues. However, the grades of acne can not be defined since you have not sent any pictures. Acne vulgaris is a common skin problem among adolescents and in adulthood. It involves pilosebaceous follicles or oil glands and therefore is seen to involve areas where oil glands are dense like the face, chest, back, and upper arms. These are common sites of involvement. I assume it to be grade 1 to grade 2 acne in your case. I suggest you start using Faceclin gel (Clindamycin Topical 1% w/w, Nicotinamide 4% w/w) during the day over pimples and Microbenz 3.5% gel (Benzoyl peroxide 3.5 % w/w) in the night over whole face for two to three months. Consult your doctor and start the medicines. You can use a good face wash twice daily. You have to maintain dietary restrictions like avoiding oily or spicy food, junk food, milk products, and non-vegetarian food. Drink an adequate amount of water to hydrate your skin.

I hope this information will help you.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
