Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

What type of products would you suggest for someone with extremely acne-prone and combination skin with cystic acne?

Answered by Dr. Suvash Sahu

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern. I would suggest products like moisturizers and foundation that can be chosen according to your skin type, for dry to normal skin: oil-based formulations are required and for oily skin, water-based formulations are required. In your case you have a combination of skin so use both at different parts of the face. You must do a patch test before using any cosmetics. For this, you just apply a small quantity of cosmetic product behind your ear and do not wash it off for two days. If you do not have any signs of an allergic reaction, such as itching, burning, or redness at the test spot, then it means that this product is safe for your skin. Please remember that if you apply any cosmetics for any social engagement and once your task is over or before going to sleep always wash your face after removing makeup. It is important to wash your face with a cleanser, so that there are no traces left to clog pores or do other damage overnight. Use a good quality face wash like Ridacne (Purified water and Cocamido propyl betaine) twice daily. Also, take regular medicine for your cystic acne and may require Accutane (Isotretinoin and Edetate disodium) capsules, taken after consulting your general practitioner or nearby dermatologist. Please review with a picture for better evaluation and the best possible treatment of your concern. I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
