Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 20-year-old female. I had sexual intercourse two months ago. After that, I noticed that blood comes out whenever I pass stool. This did not happen immediately; after one month, it began occurring daily. How can I manage this?
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Based on the description provided, the most likely causes are hemorrhoids or an anal fissure. Since the bleeding occurs during bowel movements and has persisted for several weeks, an anal fissure is slightly more likely, especially if there is pain during or after passing stool. An anal fissure is a small tear in the skin around the anus that may reopen due to hard stool or straining.
This condition is not caused by vaginal sexual intercourse. The timing may be coincidental unless there was anal intercourse. The delay in healing may be due to repeated irritation during bowel movements.
Management includes drinking adequate water daily, increasing dietary fiber to soften stool, and avoiding straining.
Gentle washing with water after passing stool is recommended instead of harsh wiping. Sitz bath or warm water baths for 10 to 15 minutes can help promote healing.
A protective ointment such as petroleum jelly may also be applied.
Since the symptoms have been present daily for about a month, medical evaluation is advised if there is no improvement within one week, or earlier if bleeding increases. This condition is common and usually treatable with proper care.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
