Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I had broken the inside of my ankle by rolling it. I will have my cast off in two days, but the inside of my ankle is still really painful when moving side to side, but moving up and down is fine. Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
You need to take off the cast and get a fresh X-ray done. If the X-ray shows good healing, then you need to wear an Aircast ankle stirrup brace for another six weeks. Repeat an X-ray after a total duration of three months. Pain should reduce by six weeks. If you still have pain, then I suggest you take the following tablets:
1. Tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily in the morning and night for ten days after food.
2. Tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg twice daily in the morning and night for ten days before food.
3. Tablet Shelcal (calcium) 500 mg twice daily in the morning and night for 30 days before food.
4. Tablet vitamin D 60k units once daily for ten days, then once a month for 11 months.
Take these tablets only if you are not allergic to them. Do not take these tablets if you have bronchial asthma. This professional advice provided by me stands subject to the actual examination of the reports and is based entirely on inputs provided to me. It should be correlated with clinical findings. Follow up after cast removal with fresh X-rays for further advice.
Regards.
