Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My friend is 24 years old. I think she suffers from anorexia nervosa as she is very keen on maintaining her weight without taking enough food needed for her body's function.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your situation.
Anorexia nervosa is common in teen girls. It can be due to an abnormal perception of their own body, and they may have a history of being bullied in school for their body weight. Because of social media and the mobile generation, people start comparing with social media models, but are not aware of filters. Girls want to look like their ideal model.
It is necessary to consult a doctor when they are overweight and start developing nutritional deficiencies. Some medications help her, and counselling can help her.
I hope that you get your answer.
Please let me know if you want some help.
Thank you.
