Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 82-year-old grandfather, suffering from the significant health problem. The antibiotics that have been administered so far have shown resistance, except for Linezolid which has shown sensitivity. The doctor has expressed concerns about my grandfather's condition and has indicated that he may not have much time left. Please help. Thanking you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I have read your query and understand your concern about your grandparent. After knowing his case report, It seems he is in a grave situation now. The prognosis appears very guarded, and nothing can be predicted until he responds positively to the current treatment. The risk factors are sepsis, shock, respiratory failure, and head injury. Being on mechanical ventilation is a risk of getting multi-resistant bacterial infections. So ultimately, it depends on his response to the current treatment, and nothing can be predicted. So I suggest you follow up with ICU (intensive care unit) doctors for further clarification. Regarding the treatment, he is currently receiving standard and adequate antibiotic cover to control infection and shock. So hope for the best, as miracles can happen anytime ( wait & watch). Regards.
