Patient's Query

Hi,

I have been taking 10 milligrams of Lexapro daily for a month for anxiety. Approximately a week and a half or so after starting it (started with 5 mg for the first week and then my doctor increased the dose) shortness of breath which I battled for years and intrusive thoughts completely went away. However, after another week and a half, said symptoms returned. They do not feel quite as intense, but they are indeed there disrupting my daily life once more.

  1. Is this normal?
  2. Should my dose of Lexapro be increased?
  3. Why did my symptoms go away and then come back?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Sometimes your symptoms get worsen due to stress or trigger in your life even though you are on a good dose of medication. You should wait for four weeks before increasing your dose of Lexapro (Escitalopram). This is normal to have fluctuation in the symptoms of your illness. It is like mood swings. If it is in the severe form then you need to adjust the dose of your medication.

You must do the following blood reports.

CBC (complete blood count), thyroid profile, vitamin B12, and vitamin D3.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
