Should I worry about pain after my appendectomy?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

A week ago, I had right lower abdominal pain. This resulted in an appendectomy. The appendix was inflamed when taken out. I now have right lower abdominal and central pain a week after the appendectomy. This started maybe a day or two after surgery. It is subsiding, but it still hurts quite a lot. At times, it can be a sharp, stabbing pain. Otherwise, it is just a sharp pain. Different positions and lying down help with the pain. Pain relief and heat packs also help with the pain. Often worse at the end of the day or after sitting up for a while. I do not have medical records for the appendectomy yet.

Should I be concerned?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

As a pulse, blood pressure is normal. It seems to be due to gastritis. Take very simple and light foods for five days. Take the capsule Pan D (Pantoprazole) on an empty stomach for five days. Send me a follow-up after three days. Also monitor temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
