Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have an armpit rash or allergy. My right armpit area appears red and becomes redder after taking a shower.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the information from your end and I do understand your concern.

As per the information that you have provided, it appears to be allergic contact dermatitis. Although for assessment purposes, it would be ideal and helpful if you would be able to attach a clear image of the affected area.

Allergic contact dermatitis is an allergic reaction that leads to rashes, burning sensations, redness, and sometimes itching. Underarms are usually affected due to the use of deodorants or skin care products and due to the stagnation of moisture or sweat.

I would suggest the following.

  1. Take tablet Cetirizine (Cetirizine Hydrochloride) 10 mg for one week an hour before going to bed at night. Do not consume the tablet and drive or go out due to the chances of sedation.

  2. Apply a thin layer of Desonide lotion on the affected area at night for one week.

  3. Apply Luliconazole cream on the affected area in the morning and night for six weeks.

  4. Avoid allergens.

  5. Avoid using deodorants.

  6. Avoid close shaving till rashes reduce.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

I have attached a photo of my affected armpit area.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com

I would suggest you use the already-mentioned prescription.

Apart from that I would suggest you use the following.

  1. Use Ketoconazole soap for washing the affected area twice daily. Lather with water, apply, keep for two minutes, and wash off.

  2. Use Clotrimazole dusting powder thrice daily between cream applications on the affected area.

Use Luliconazole cream, Ketoconazole soap, and Clotrimazole dusting powder for two months till rashes completely disappear. Desonide lotion may be stopped after one week.

Consult with your specialist doctor, talk with them, and then take the medications as per their advice.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
