Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a fever and cold a month back. Then started having back pain (like muscle spasm) under the right scapula. The pain then spread to the neck to such an extent that I could not move my head. The pain also spread to my lower back and knees. My doctor suggested a few investigations like blood tests and neck X-rays and prescribed some medicines. The intensity of the pain did not subside, so I visited another doctor, who prescribed new medicines. After using them, I started feeling better; however, on the third day after using the medicines, I had swelling in my arms and legs and joint pains. My doctor did another blood test again. I am attaching all the test reports for your kind reference. What is the diagnosis of my condition? What medications should I take? Is it a common condition, and can it be treated? If yes, then how long does it take to cure the condition? I am worried as a close relative of mine passed away due to stomach cancer a year back, and her illness was diagnosed only two weeks before her passing. Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. I have reviewed your attachments (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). You seem to be suffering from arthritis. It can either involve your spine or your joints, like the wrist. I will suggest a few tests. Kindly get them done and get back with the reports so that we can discuss further. It is a manageable condition with a proper diagnosis. I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Investigations to be done

I suggest ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), CRP (C-reactive protein), HLA-B27 (human leucocyte antigen B27), 2D echo for heart, and liver function tests.

Treatment plan

I suggest tablet Nucoxia (Etoricoxib) 90 mg once daily.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
