How to manage the side effects of Tezepelumab?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been on Tezspire for three months now. My FeNO (fractional exhaled nitric oxide) levels have dropped from 45 to 20, but I am still having breakthrough symptoms and need to use ProAir four to five times a week.

  1. My doctor mentioned something about the atopic march—should I be concerned?

  2. Also, I have noticed more joint pain and fatigue after my injections. My CBC (complete blood count) came back normal, but my CRP (c-reactive protein) was elevated. Could this be related to the medication?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

It is great to hear that your FeNO (fractional exhaled nitric oxide) levels have improved with Tezspire. However, the breakthrough symptoms and frequent use of ProAir indicate that your asthma may not be fully controlled yet. The atopic march refers to the progression of allergic diseases, such as eczema (chronic itchy skin with red, inflamed scales), allergic rhinitis (nasal inflammation due to allergic immune response), and asthma (chronic airway inflammation causing breathing difficulty), which can be a concern if not managed properly.

Your joint pain and fatigue could be side effects of Tezspire. Elevated CRP (c-reactive protein) levels indicate inflammation, which might be related to the medication or another underlying condition. It is important to discuss these symptoms with your doctor to determine the cause and adjust your treatment plan if necessary.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
