Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 30-year-old female with very sharp pain in my middle upper back and off-and-on pain in my right lower back since two days. The pain is so severe that I can barely move.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I can imagine how tough this must be for you, being only 30, and suddenly struggling with such sharp, limiting back pain can feel overwhelming.
From what you describe, the middle upper back pain is very sharp and making movement difficult, while the right lower back pain has been coming and going for almost a week.
Pain like this can come from several causes; sometimes it is muscle strain, posture-related stress, or even a pinched nerve. When it is sharp and movement feels almost impossible, it does need careful attention.
For relief at home, resting the back (but not complete bed rest) and applying a warm compress may help. Taking simple over-the-counter pain relievers such as Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen (if safe for you) can also reduce discomfort.
It is very important to seek medical care urgently if any of the following occur:
Gentle stretching can help ease stiffness and support recovery.
Avoiding heavy lifting prevents worsening of the pain.
Seek urgent medical care if the pain is severe or worsening.
Get help immediately if pain radiates down the leg or is associated with numbness or weakness.
Medical attention is also required if you have difficulty controlling urine or stool.
If you develop a fever along with back pain, see a doctor promptly.
Otherwise, scheduling a visit with your doctor soon is wise so they can examine you and possibly order imaging if needed. This way, they can guide you with the right treatment, whether that is medication, physical therapy, or further evaluation.
You do not have to push through this pain alone. Getting timely help will make recovery smoother and safer.
I hope this information helps you.
Thank you.
