Can I use insertion pills to cure bacterial vaginosis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had symptoms of bacterial vaginosis three days back. The next day I felt micro tears with which I decided to have unprotected sex with my new partner. The next day, micro teras worsened and had white marks on them. Today I went to the hospital because the tears were swollen, painful, and unbearable. I want to know which product I should use? Bacterial vaginosis cream or yeast infection pills? The doctor wrote on my notes that I have bacterial vaginosis but then told me to buy the three-day insertion pills for yeast infection. I may also have an outbreak of herpes which is painful. So maybe she recommended the insertion of pills over an external cream because of my painful lesions. Which product should I buy and use, doctor?

I believe I got bacterial vaginosis due to taking a tablet Amoxicillin for sinusitis. So from today, I have started on tablet Naproxen and tablet Valacyclovir.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Clean vagina with a vaginal wash. Please use a cream at present as insertion pills will irritate the tears. I suggest you use (consult with a specialist doctor, talk with him or her and take medicines with their consent) cream Ocuvir If it is herpes. Drink plenty of water daily. Continue your current medicine.

Please send me a follow-up tomorrow. It seems to be a mixed infection. If you do not get relief, we will change the medicines tomorrow or the day after. Please avoid all sexual activities for a few weeks.

Thank you.
