Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have had this balanitis issue for a few years, but it has not gone away yet. I have attached a picture. Right now, the right side of my penis is red and inflamed. I recently had sex, and that caused it to bruise a bit. What can I use for this issue?
Thank you.
Hi doctor,
I have reviewed your reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). You suffer from candidal balanoposthitis, a fungal infection of the foreskin and glans penis. It presents as itching, red spots on the glans, swelling and cracks on the foreskin, and inability to retract it. Use gel Miconazole gel twice daily for relief and consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent. Also, get checked for sugar levels too. If any blisters formed before the erosion once, get HSV (herpes simplex virus) 1 and 2 test IgG and IgM antibodies.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Would Clotrimazole be fine to use? I have been using this bar and gel for the last three days. Also, I got tested for HSV 1 and 2 last month. I am positive for HSV 1 but negative for HSV 2.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Yes, you can use Clotrimazole cream. If HSV 1 is positive, get an IgM antibody test as it indicates the current infection. Consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.
Thank you.
