Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 17-year-old male. Since last week, while doing a little hard exercise like running fast or some gym stuff I get ear barotrauma that could not be cured by simple suggested ways. What should I do?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
In connection to your query, I would like to tell you that barotrauma means traumatic injury to ear because of the sudden change in air pressure in the external ear canal. If injury is minimal then it will recover in a week time, but there are reports where barotrauma is so severe that patient may develop sensory neural deafness which becomes difficult to treat sometimes. Keeping this in mind it is always advisable to protect the ear from barotrauma by using suitable ear plugs.
