I am a 32-year-old female with a normal weight. I have been having a stitch-like pain in my left side above my belly button that gets worse when I walk or after I eat. I cannot seem to figure out what this could be. I am taking Zantac and birth control pills. Kindly suggest.

This kind of pain is mostly due to acid reflux or gall bladder issues like stones in the gall bladder called cholelithiasis. It can be a hiatus hernia associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease. For evaluation of gall bladder issues, get an ultrasound of the abdomen which will rule out any cholelithiasis or pancreatitis. If the ultrasound is normal, you would require treatment for acid reflux. In acid reflux disease a combination of Omeprazole (Disodium hydrogen phosphate, Hypromellose, Lactose, Mannitol, Sodium lauryl sulfate) and Domperidone (Domperidone Maleate) helps greatly. Take a soft, bland diet as spicy food aggravates acidity. In case of acute pain, you can take anti-flatulent syrup. Consult your specialist before taking medications. I already have issues with reflux and have been on medication. What do you think the pain is from? How would reflux cause pain? This is really bothering me.
