Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Oral Betamethasone at a very low dose is the only drug that controls persistent allergies that have existed for years. How will 0.25 mg of Betamethasone administer once weekly impact me? Even though I am aware of Cushing syndrome and all the other side effects, I still need to know if they will start to manifest at the suggested dose. Kindly help.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Steroids such as Betamethasone suppress your body's immune system. This makes it harder for you to fight infections. Long-term use of Betamethasone and using it in higher doses may increase your chances of getting an infection. It may also hide the symptoms of any infection you may have.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I am aware of the adverse effects, and I understand them. Nevertheless, I was unable to locate any trials that used a single 0.25 mg dose given once each week. Would the cumulative effect be appropriate? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

They are more potent than specific other therapies, such as Hydrocortisone. When previous medications have not been effective, Betamethasone is frequently administered. Prednisone dose equivalent to 0.25 mg is around 2 mg. I do not know whether this dosage is helpful and is truly recommended for long-term allergies, but if used for a few months, it should not have any significant adverse effects.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
