Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I got the Nexplanon birth control implant seven months ago, but I am still experiencing irregular and heavy bleeding. Is this normal, or should I be concerned? Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Irregular and heavy bleeding is a common side effect of Nexplanon, especially within the first six to 12 months. However, if your bleeding is excessive (soaking through a pad or tampon every 1 to 3 hours), lasts for an extended period (more than 10 days), or significantly affects your daily life, it may be a cause for concern.
What you can do:
If your condition worsens or the bleeding becomes severe, do not hesitate to seek immediate medical attention.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert so I can assist you further.
Thank you.
