Is bleeding normal after taking Normens?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex and took an I-pill afterward. My period was delayed beyond the expected time. A beta hCG test showed a result of less than three, and an ultrasound came back normal.

I took Normens as prescribed by a doctor. About an hour later, I experienced a nosebleed and passed a blood clot vaginally. The bleeding continued for several weeks.

What could be the reason?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Menstrual irregularities, in your case, could be due to a hormonal imbalance caused by an I-pill. As you took the I-pill on time, there is almost no chance of pregnancy in your case.

Abdominal pain with white discharge is due to side effects of the I-pill, so there is no need to worry about it. Some people are also having withdrawal bleeding and blood clots due to the sudden withdrawal of hormones from their bodies. The next period is a little unpredictable due to a hormonal imbalance caused by the I-pill.

Either it comes early or is delayed by one week or so. So wait and watch for your menses; get your home urine pregnancy test after seven days of your missed period date to rule out pregnancy.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
